The TahitiPetey Foundation is committed to sharing the latest science-backed facts and realities about the conditions of our oceans Climate Change and declining world oil supplies impact with you. As we further develop our web site, we will offer content on these and other issues, plus links to hundreds of information and research related web sites from around the world to help you obtain the facts you need to know.
In the meantime, we have posted some information, recent articles and reports you may find helpful for you to download, including the official IPCC reports on Climate Change. We welcome any valid information links, resources and additional information you can provide us to make available to others on our site. You may send them to us by way of our contacts section.
Please note, all information posted here comes from third parties and does not necessarily represent our views on any particular issue. Our goal is to merely share information to allow you to decide what is or is not true. The time for us to act more environmentally responsible was long ago, and lifestyle changes are coming soon, so we may as well prepare ourselves.
Our Oceans: What can we say – they are in serious trouble! Man continues to disrespect the oceans by over-fishing and polluting them at alarming rates. We hope to provide information and links on our site to help you better understand this and how we can help reverse these trends.
One of the best two videos that explain what is happening I have found are called Trashing our Oceans & The Plastic Diets and I recommend you watch them. The link below will take you to "Altered Oceans," part 4 of 5, I found on latimes.com and features some amazing photos from Rick Loomis that showcases some of the causes and impact of plastic on our oceans and marine life.
The Video below shares the adventures of Roz Savage, an Eco-Adventurer, the women who rowed across the Atlantic in 2005, and the Pacific in 2008 from the west coast to Hawaii, alone, in her quest to increase awareness of ocean issues. Roz inspires me, as she should you, and shows how all of us can make a difference if we set out passion into action.

Our goal is to help reduce the use of one-time only, convenience-based plastic products in our lives, much of which fills our oceans and islands worldwide. It is time to rethink the packaging conveniences we have grown to love and take for granted, and learn how they harm the environment, our oceans, marine life and one of our largest natural food supplies. We will be supporting and following those who set out to explore the oceans to help protect them, fund the programs that need to be funded to find solutions and share all of this with our members.
For a very informative overview of the plastic bag issue worldwide, visit this Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) web site below and watch the video. It showcases the global problem they cause and how our culture views them. Warning: It not a pretty picture and some scenes will make you sick, but you will also learn how bags are made and why some cities have outlawed them.

Over Fishing of our Oceans: We are over fishing our oceans at a pace that will see them be all but fish free free within 40 to 50 years. Yes, it sounds crazy, but its true. It bad enough that we, and i mean mankind, feels it necessary to kill almost 100 million sharks a year for shark fin soup, or that we have already eaten 90% of the big game fish, like tuna, and even fish farming is in danger (fish eat fish, so no fish, no fish farming). The best documentary available on this subject, in our opinion, is a recently released film called "The End Of The Line" Watch this trailer if you dare to know the truth. You will never look at sushi in the same way!

Climate Change: Scientists concur that Global Warming and ice ages are natural, inevitable occurrences on Earth. Yet, many people still don't believe Climate Change is happening or that it presents a real threat to our environment. Well folks, it is a reality, although we are often misinformed about this issue and the likely near-term impacts. There are many misperceptions and lots of controversy surrounding this issue.
Many of us are tired of hearing that mankind has caused Global Warming; and for good reason, we have not caused it. All we know for certain is that we have contributed to the acceleration of this natural event. Sadly, some of the smartest people have downplayed the consequences and impacts of this important issue and its science, claiming it is just another political buzzword like the word Green has become. In many ways, it is, but we must begin understanding how Climate Change will impact us individually.
Global Climate Change is a fact, it is a real issue and it has been happening since the beginning of time. We are once again at the end of an important planetary cycle and it's time to acknowledge that and work together to understand how it may impact us. We will offer both sides of the debate, since both offer value to the discussion. Sure, we must all act more responsibly to reverse the damaging trends that are devastating our planet, but we must continue to live and cannot change the natural events that have shaped our planet since the beginning.
