Dear International Citizen:

Peter Ortmann
"TahitiPetey"

Welcome to our web site! My name is Peter "TahitiPetey" Ortmann, Founder and President of the TahitiPetey Foundation, a privately funded non-profit society based on Vancouver Island, in British Columbia, Canada.

We are dedicated to increasing awareness of important global issues and finding workable solutions to overcome their impact. Our primary focus is on those devastating our oceans and marine life, and to help reduce the plastic waste reaching them. We intend to do so in a purpose driven, non-political manner  to drive change and reverse this trend.

To accomplish our objectives, we are developing a new Internet-based membership organization called the TahitiPetey FoundersClub. When launched in early 2009, the club will offer members a unique opportunity to help our efforts long-term and offset their own rising living costs.

By empowering like-minded people from around the world, our members will help us communicate our messages through existing social networks directly, with a common goal of increasing awareness of the issues, our programs and our Clear Blue OCEANS initiative.

We will become an online resource platform that consolidates the vast information and science on the issues we cover,  and integrate that with our own member’s perspectives through online videos and editorials to share workable solutions, conservation programs, sustainable living ideas and educational content that can make a difference in all our lives.

Our goal with the FoundersClub is to build an entertaining, yet viable online social organization comprised of International citizens from all walks of life who want to help our oceans. Not as an environmental organization, but rather as an awareness group that through member-originated content shares the front-line intelligence on both sides of every issue for the benefit of everyone.

Our Clear Blue OCEANS initiative is designed to showcase the importance of our oceans, and need to recycle the 7 trillion plus plastic bags and over 220 billion plastic beverage bottles  (mainly water bottles) we use each year, and the need to reduce our daily use of such products in general.

Over 20% of all plastic waste from countless products finds its way into our oceans and much of that accumulates on tropical islands and coastlines worldwide, killing millions of fishes and other marine life annually. Together, we can reverse those devastating trends and others that are killing our oceans, like ocean dumping and the over-fishing of our most valuable natural food resource.

Together, we will examine both sides of the Climate Change or Global Warming debate and its impacts. Climate Change is a real issue that will change much more than our weather patterns and ocean currents; it will cause at the very least substantial damage to the world's coastlines, fisheries, coral reefs and marine life.  We will showcase how rising ocean levels will displace millions of people in mainly poor countries and even entire populations of small island nations.

Together, we will also explore other challenges facing mankind; like the decline of cheap oil and other natural resources in a world of ever growing demand. Oil remains the lifeblood of the world’s economy and although it has come back down to affordable levels, it will rise back up and impact our personal lifestyles and budgets substantially in the future.

Along the way, we will share links to useful web sites, help fund worthy awareness organizations, publications, projects and research programs, and through the AngelFish Trust Fund, provide natural disaster relief aid worldwide after major weather or natural disasters.

We can no longer keep our heads in the sand and ignore these issues. We MUST become more aware and address the problems we all face, but at the same time, we need to still enjoy what our planet and oceans have to offer us, travel and live a quality life – and we can do both.

This site will share more about The FoundersClub, our Clear Blue OCEANS initiative and our other objectives. I invite you to sign-up for our free monthly electronic newsletter and purchase one or more copies of my book, TragicSatisfaction, to help fund us.

In the meantime, do whatever possible to reduce your daily use of plastic products and become more environmentally responsible.

Cordially,

TahitiPetey
